Born into theatre and activism, Solange is best known as a pioneer in diversifying performing arts training in the UK, supporting grassroots projects and providing outstanding performers and creatives to West End, UK and International theatre as well as film productions worldwide. She trained at the Urdang Academy Lower and Upper Schools and The High School of Performing Arts in New York. Solange enjoyed a successful career in dance, theatre and music before going on to study art.
Solange is an influential figure within the theatre and entertainment industry. As CEO of the Urdang Academy from 2001 to 2022 after holding several posts there from 1991, Solange spearheaded Urdang into one of the UK’s most prolific and talked about vocational colleges. Amongst her achievements as CEO, she implemented the move to The Old Finsbury Town Hall in Islington from Covent Garden, the expansion into the Urdang 2 premises, The new Degree Course, achieved an ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted and the recent merge with City, University of London.
She is co-founder and co-director of The Black British Theatre Awards, The Black Theatre & Film Directory, founder of Link Artists Agency, owner and CEO of Urdang International, The Global Performing Arts Alliance (GPAA) and The Dang Syllabuses. She is also an ambassador for RSL (Rock School London), a trustee of Education Africa, a senior dance and musical theatre competition judge and an industry advisor as well as patron to several organisations.
